Herbal Bath Oil

One Of The Most Essential Component of Herb Cosmetics is the Herbal Bath Oil. Herbal Bath oils are the scented oils used during the bath which facilitate the moisturisation of the skin. Bath oils help in the uniform application of oil throughout the body. Instead of buying them, you can easily prepare it at home. Here we have for you in this article a better way of preparing Bath oils at home with simple ingredients and Using them at your will.

The basic principle in making bath oil is to select essential oils for their properties and fragrance, then add them to 4 tablespoons of base carrier oil.

The easiest base oils to use in your homemade bath oils are the light base oils such as Castor Oil, Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil or even simple Sunflower Oil.

Pour your base oil into a dark or clear glass bottle or jar. If using a clear glass jar you will need to protect the oils from waning by storing the finished oils in a dark place, a bathroom cupboard is perfect for this.

Add about 20 drops of your chosen essential oils (take a look at our essential oil use chart for their properties and scent) cover and shake well.

Leave the homemade bath oil to blend and mature for about 2 weeks before using.

Aromatherapy Bath Oil Recipe

A few drops of skin-safe essential oils can be added directly to bathwater. However, essential oils do not stay mixed in water, and there is some risk that the concentrated essential oil will settle on your skin in one spot. Instead, it is far better to use bath oil.

This simple bath oil recipe adds the use of carrier oil (or blend of your favourite carrier oils, if you prefer) to dramatically reduce the risk of sensitization. Additionally, the addition of a carrier oil helps to moisturize and nourish your skin as you bath. Vegetable oils have been added to bathwater for centuries as a way to naturally moisturize the skin.

A dilemma is that both carrier oils and essential oils do not stay mixed in water. Most commercial bath oils on the MARKET include a synthetic agent that helps to disperse the oils into the water so they stay mixed. This recipe keeps things simple and natural by omitting the dispersing agent.

Ingredients:

60-millilitre carrier oil such as Jojoba

20 drops Lavender Essential Oil or 15-20 drops of your own blend of essential oils (be sure they are Essential Oils that are not known to be skin irritants)

Directions:

Blend the oils together and store in a glass bottle. The recipe may be doubled or tripled.
